SMOKING LATTICE:--This kind of a smocking is particularly suitable for making decorative pillows and cushions. Squares are drawn on the wrong side of the fabric knot the end of the thread and start smocking at upper left. Pick up the fabric at first dart bringing out the needle from right to left pull dots 1 and 2 together and knot securely with thread above the needle.Slip the needle under the thread between dots 1 and 2 pulling thread tightly at dot 3 to form a knot. be sure to keep fabric flat between dots at 3 .Pick up dot 4 go back and pick up dot 3 again pull dots together and knot securely . Continue down rows of dots in this manner.
